Children's of Alabama receives $3 million for PICU expansion

Posted

Children's of Alabama announced a $3 million donation from the Quarterbacking Children's Health Foundation to relocate and expand its pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

The expansion project will develop the 12th floor of the Benjamin Russell Hospital, currently an unfinished space, into a 50-bed unit. This new unit will be named the Quarterbacking Children's Health Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in recognition of the foundation's contribution. The expanded unit will accommodate both critical care and lower acuity patients and will feature updated intensive care rooms with the latest technology. Construction is scheduled to begin this year, with completion expected in 2026.

"We have been partners with Children's for decades, and we could not be more excited about continuing our support for the children of Alabama through this project," said Marc Tyson, president of the Quarterbacking Children's Health Foundation.

The Quarterbacking Children's Health Foundation has a long history of supporting Children's of Alabama, helping to meet the greatest needs of sick and injured children in the state. This donation is the latest example of their ongoing partnership.
