Even though the temperature reached a windy 49 degrees, supporters of the Central Baldwin Chamber arrived at the site of the new Chamber building at U.S. Highway 90 and Highway 59 last Friday morning warmly dressed and ready to celebrate the beginning of a new future for the Chamber.
“This new Chamber building will be for all of the municipalities which it serves, “ said Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy. “We are glad we had the opportunity to be the catalyst for the new building, but we want this to be a building that represents not only the people and businesses in Robertsdale, but also those in Loxley, Summerdale and Silverhill.”
Peggy Nelson, chairman of the Board for the Central Baldwin Chamber said that “without Charles Murphy behind this effort, it wouldn’t have happened.”
“This Chamber represents so much for this growing community, “said Marian Mason, executive director of the Chamber. “It’s a place where people network, businesses gain valuable counseling, where planning for events occur and where visitors receive information about our area. With a new building and more space, we hope to expand our services and become an even stronger advocate for our community.”
Construction on the new building will begin by late February or early March and should be completed in six months. The Board of Directors and staff of the Chamber are hoping for a move-in date in either November or December of this year.
