ROBERTSDALE — Quarterback Luther Sanders threw two first-half

touchdown passes to wide receiver T.C. McWilliams and Baldwin County

High broke two long touchdown runs in the second half to hand winless

host Robertsdale a 28-6 intracounty and 6A Region 2 high school

football defeat in J.D Sellers Stadium.

McWilliams caught a short pass from Sanders and turned it into a 16-

yard touchdown with 11:27 left in the first half after the old rivals

battled to a scoreless quarter.Trace Zarr kicked the first of four

extra points for the Tigers, who snapped a two-game losing streak

after having an open date last week.BCHS improved to 3-3 overall and

2-2 in Region 2 while Robertsdale dropped to 0-7 and 0-5.

Sanders lofted a 9-yard touchdown pass to McWilliams, who outjumped

Golden Bears defensive back Malik Dailey for the ball in the left

side of the north end zone to score with 1:05 left in the first half.

The score came on the ninth play of a 65-yard drive.

The Tigers’ first scoring drive covered 62 yards and took five plays.

Sanders, who completed eight of 13 passes for 112 yards without

throwing an interception, had a 29-yard run on a draw play in the

first drive.Running aback Arthello Bush’s 18-yard run was the big

gainer in the second push to McWilliams’ second touchdown.

With 6:33 left in the third quarter,Charleston Gandy broke loose for

a 69-yard touchdown on the second play after the BCHS defense forced

punt after Robertsdale forced and recovered a fumble. Emmanuel

Stevens finished up the Tigers’ touchdown-scoring and a 90-yard drive

when he went 45 yards on an inside reverse, scoring with 8:04 lleft

in the game.

Robertsdale, BCHS first-year coach David Wofford substituting

liberally on defense, avoided a shutout by driving 76 yards in nine

plays to Preston Mitchell 9-yard touchdown with 2:53 to play. O.J.

French blocked Josh Hughens’ extra-point attempt.

Baldwin County rolled up 349 yards rushing to finish with 461 yards

of total offense. Fullback Donald Taylor led the Tigers’ ground game

with 91 yards on 13 carries. Gandy finished with 86 yards on just six

carries, Stevens 67 on seven totes, Bishop 55 on seven tries and

Sanders 37 on five carries. McWilliams led the receivers with four

catches for 45 yards.

Tailback Jamar Carter finished with 102 yards on 24 carries for the

Golden Bears after gaining just 30 on 11 runs in the first half.

Robertsdale finished with 180 yards rushing and 34 passing on five

completions in 10 attempts by quarterback Nathan Wells.

BCHS hosts Satsuma Friday night as regional play continues.

Robertsdale, a 28-6 loser for the third straight week, will try to

break into the win column against Foley in Sellers Stadium.
