Bayside Academy sophomore, Isabelle Rutland, has received several awards recently for her artwork.

In the past month alone, she won first place in the state of Alabama at the Visual Arts Achievement Program 2022 exhibition with her painting "Interlaced," first place in the Baldwin County Trailblazer's Chalk the Trail competition, an honorable mention and commendation from the department head in the 2022 Ringling College of Art & Design High School Art Contest, first place in the AISA State Art Competition, the Virtual Art Competition of Alabama, and a summer scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design.

The Visual Arts Achievement Program is produced by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and provides local and state recognition for student achievement in the visual arts. The competition is open to every art student in the state of Alabama currently studying art in an academic art program.

The Chalk the Trail competition is sponsored by the Baldwin County Trailblazers and supports their mission to promote recreational activities in the community through the creation and maintenance of trails throughout Baldwin County. The chalk drawings were created on a sidewalk by the bay in Fairhope in one day.

The Ringling College of Art & Design High School Art Contest is open to all students in the U.S. and received over 400 submissions this year. Isabelle's work will be included along with other winners in this year's contest in an online exhibition at the Crossley Fine Arts Galley.

The AISA State Art Competition is open to students in all independent schools in Alabama and was held at Faulkner University's multiplex in May. The entries in the state competition were all winners from the district competition.

The Virtual Art Competition of Alabama is a juried student art competition in which K–12 students in the state of Alabama compete for the opportunity to represent the state at the 2023 National Art Education Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
