Baldwin County Genealogical Society (BCGS) monthly meetings are the second Saturday of every month. Meetings start at 10 a.m. and are held in the second floor meeting room of the Foley Public Library, 319 East Laurel Ave, Foley. All meetings are open to all interested public.
On Saturday, July 10, Mike Bunn, Director of Historic Blakeley State Park in Spanish Fort, historian and author will be the guest speaker.
Bunn’s presentation will be on his latest book, the Fourteenth Colony: The Forgotten Story of the Gulf South During America’s Revolutionary Era. Join us to find out if Baldwin County was part of the British Colony of West Florida and part of the Forgotten 14th!
Bunn is an author and historian who has worked with cultural heritage organizations in the Southeast. He is author of several books on Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Bunn is editor of Muscogiana, the journal of the Muscogee County (Georgia) Genealogical Society. He is also Chair of the Baldwin County Historic Development Commission. Bunn earned his undergraduate degree at Faulkner University and two master degrees at the University of Alabama. He also completed a graduate certificate in public history at the University of West Georgia. He and his family reside in Daphne.
