The Lady Tigers took a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Lady Makos alternating sets 21-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-18 and winning the fifth set 19-17. Aspen Gerald and Ella Stapleton led the Tigers’ attack with 5 Kills each, Madison Robinson added four, Persephonie Milligan and Shyann Smith had three each, Kayleigh Tolbert two while Taija Graves and Kristian Hollie had one each. At the service line BCHS was led by Graves with 4 Aces, Gerald and Hollie had two each, Milligan and Leighanna Turk each had one. On defense, Robinson had 7 Blocks, Ella Stapleton had four and Milligan one. Turk led in Digs with 19, Gerald, Graves and Milligan had 10 each, Hollie had six and Milligan four, Smith had two and Tolbert one.
The Tigers also won the JV match 2-0 (25-21, 25-17). Hannah Robinson had four kills. Clare Davis led at the line with 4 Aces and Saylor Bryant had three. On defense Rian Dunn led with 4 Digs.
The Tigers are scheduled to host the Makos in a rematch Sept. 1 at 4:30 (JV) and 5:30 p.m. Their first Class 6A Area contest is scheduled for Sept. 8 at home against Gulf Shores at the same times.
