FAIRHOPE, Alabama - Peyton Grantham and Megan Dowdy might have been rivals when their teams faced each other on the diamond, but the pair of Eastern Shore softball stars are both part of the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s All-State softball team.

Grantham, a who plays third base for Daphne, and Fairhope center fielder Dowdy were honored this week as part of the annual team, selected each spring after the state’s softball season.

Grantham hit .461 with 14 homers and 59 RBIs while Dowdy hit .513 with 20 steals as Fairhope’s leadoff hitter. Dowdy has signed with Samford University.
