This is a special weekend on the island. You could say it's the Super Bowl of Sportfishing.

The Blue Marlin Grand Champion will be crowned this weekend at The Wharf. The race kicks off with a shotgun start as boats race to their fishing spots to land the largest blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish and more. The weigh-in on Friday and Saturday are fun for the whole family and a great way to spend an evening.

Not into fish? There are some great weekend events to keep everyone in the family entertained and happy. Kick off the weekend at Palooza in the Park in Gulf Shores and enjoy free live entertainment, yard games and activities. If you feel like a little community service, give Eco Clean Marine a hand picking up litter Saturday morning in Orange Beach. To wrap up the weekend, vintage fanatics should head to Pensacola for Vintage Fest.

If our list missed the mark, visit our event calendar at www.GulfCoastMedia.com for more events happening this weekend or beyond. Search for events by distance from your home city or vacation spot.
