The good times will roll across the Gulf Coast this weekend. The event calendars are filled with Mardi Gras parades and balls, but we have found a few events to help you fill the time between those events. Our list includes a book signing with a local children's author, high school and college lacrosse and a daylong party at OWA.

Trying to plan which parades to watch? We have put together a comprehensive list that covers all parades happening in Baldwin County and Mobile through Fat Tuesday. Have a safe weekend and don't eat too many Moon Pies.

"Miss Linda and the Turtle People celebrate Mardi Gras" book signing
What: Linda B. Schmitz Spangrud, Baldwin County resident and Alabama Sea Turtle volunteer, has written the third children's book in her Turtle People series. "Miss Linda and the Turtle People celebrate Mardi Gras" is a colorful and playful adventure about what the Turtle People and sea turtles do in the winter. Pick up a copy and meet the author.
When: Friday, Feb. 17, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Where: Learning Campus at Gulf State Park (Conservation Hall), 20249 A State Park Road, Gulf Shores

Battle By the Bay
What: Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. in the past 15 years and this weekend you can see college and high school teams take the field in Foley. High school lacrosse teams from the Gulf Coast will go head-to-head and nine men's collegiate teams will go head-to-head in 18 games.
When: Saturday, Feb. 18, and Sunday, Feb. 19 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Foley Sports Tourism Complex, 950 E. Pride Blvd., Foley

OWA Mardi Gras Party
What: Grab your masks and beads and celebrate Joe Cain Day at OWA Downtown. The celebration begins with live music by 5 Mile Brass, an eight-piece funky rock brass band from Mobile. There will be children's activities to keep the little ones entertained before the parade rolls at 6 p.m.
When: Sunday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m.
Where: Downtown OWA, 101-N S. OWA Blvd., Foley
