Looking to get away for the weekend? Coastal Mississippi is gearing up for the 28th Annual Cruisin' The Coast, known as "America's Largest Block Party," bringing car lovers from across the country to its scenic Highway 90.
The event, which will take place from Oct. 5-12, promises a celebration of classic cars and the vibrant beach towns of Biloxi, Pascagoula, Ocean Springs and more.
Since its humble beginnings in 1996, when only 374 vehicles participated, Cruisin' The Coast has grown into Mississippi's largest single event. This year, more than 43 states, along with participants from Canada and England, have registered to showcase their classic cars along the coast.
"Every year, we are thrilled to see how this grassroots event grows," said Sherwood "Woody" Bailey, Jr., Event Vice Chair and Executive Director. "This year we have registered vehicles from 43 states, Canada, and England. In 1996, our inaugural year, we had 374 participants. We've since grown to become the largest single event in the state of Mississippi."
The 2024 festival will feature two new concerts sure to excite visitors. On Oct. 5, the Grand Slam Jam kicks off the festivities with a full day of music at Keesler Federal Park. The star-studded lineup includes Chapel Hart, Tab Benoit and Amanda Shaw, among others. A week later, on Oct. 12, the Super Saturday Concert at Hollywood Casino Resort in Bay St. Louis will bring the party to a close with a Parrothead Cruisers Party featuring the Caribbean Chillers, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band.
"For one week each year, Coastal Mississippi is the destination for classic car viewing. With plenty of accommodations and the freshest gulf-to-table seafood in the world, Cruisin' The Coast is the premier event for Cruisers and for those who want to come down and enjoy all week long," said Judy Young, CEO of Coastal Mississippi Tourism.
