Twenty-nine of Bay Minette Elementary School’s top students were celebrated at a beautiful awards’ ceremony at the Bay Minette First Presbyterian Church recently. The sixth grade students received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence which means they earned a 90 percent or better average in all subjects from the fourth through the sixth grades and scored in the third or fourth quartiles on their achievement tests.
Principal, Laura Moorer, spoke to the students and parents and charged them to “make the world a better place” by living out the seven habits they have learned from The Leader In Me program.
Dr. Faron Hollinger, former Baldwin County School System Superintendent, was the keynote speaker and he emphasized the importance of parental support and good character in the future success of the students. Rev. Blair Beaver welcomed the honorees and their families who enjoyed heavy hors d’oeuvres, cake, and punch provided by the church making it a very special evening.
