Jennings Bryan “J.B.” Young Jr., 64, a native of Mobile, and a resident of Fairhope, for the past 27 years, died Friday, May 11, 2007 at a local health care facility.
He was a graduate of Vigor High School where he was the star pitcher for the Wolves Baseball Team. He was a self taught fiddle and guitar player, and square dance caller. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years with a honorable discharge. He was employed by Scott Paper Company for over 30 years and retired in 2000 as a pipefitter/mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Ross Young of Fairhope; three daughters, Shannon (Dean) Works of Auburn, Karen (Kerry) McDonald and Jan (Tony) Williams, both of Fairhope; two sons, Mike Tilley of Fairhope and John M. (Kelly) Tilley of Atlanta; three brothers, Franklin D. Young of Stockbridge, Ga., Douglas A. Young of Mobileand Thomas S. (Beth) Young of Pelham; three sisters, Margie Y. (Bill) Howell of Stockbridge, Ga., Martha Y. (Earl) DeMouy of Mobile and Sharon Y. (John) Swartz of Long Boat Key, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Colony Cemetery, Fairhope.
