W.R. “Bob” Milford Jr., 91, died Wednesday May 7, 2014 at his home in Fairhope.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue; his son, Rob of Pensacola; and daughter, Nancy of Spanish Fort.

Bob was born in Richmond, Va. on Feb. 20, 1923, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, aboard a destroyer escort in the battles of Leyte Gulf and Okinawa.

After the war, he attended the University of Virginia, and worked at WCHV Radio as a personality and sales rep.

His career in advertising started with Ketchum, Macleod & Grove in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, and many years with Campbell-Ewald in Detroit and Atlanta, working the Chevrolet account on a regional and national level.

The Milfords moved to Fairhope in 1973, where Bob started with Bill Steber Chevrolet. He continued with Joe Bullard Oldsmobile and Barney & Patrick Advertising.

He was a member of the Sons of the Revolution, Elks, VFW and American Legion, and the Fairhope Yacht Club.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been donated to the University of South Alabama Medical School. There will not be a funeral or memorial service.
