ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The WI Sno-birds met Thursday, February 21, at the Orange Beach Community Center (OBCC) with coffee and donuts at 8:30 am and the meeting starting promptly at 9 am. Our speakers for this morning were Shaul Zislin, owner of the Hangout, who has been featured in some BP commercials to bring people back to the Gulf Coast, and Brad Cohen, Director of Operations at the Hangout. They were very informative about assistance from BP and government agencies after the Gulf oil spill. Brad, a UW-Stout graduate, made it clear that the Hangout is available to help with any projects that emphasize arts and music on the Gulf Coast.
We then heard from committe heads giving results from the Pancake Breakfast to benefit Gulf Shores Fire Department, All-States 8-pin Bowling Event which donated to Christian Services and the All-States Golf Scramble which generated over $5,000 for the Baldwin County Heritage Museum. The Low Country Boil bringing funds to the Gulf Coast Zoo was postponed to Saturday, February 23, to an indoor venue with food tickets returned for a later visit to the Zoo because of the rainy weekend. Some club members even participated in a mock disaster at the Jack Edwards airport on Friday, February 22!
