Patricia Porter “Patsy” Wilson died Thursday, April 26, 2007 after lengthy decline.

Born Patricia Louise Porter July 1931 in Mobile to Temple and Mark Porter, she grew up on Fairhope Avenue and attended the Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education from “First Life” through graduation. Her mother later married Harold Graham and much later married John Albach.

She married Midshipman Daniel M. Wilson in May 1951 at the First Methodist Church of Fairhope. Throughout his Marine Corps career, she served as the household executive officer with great distinction and love.

She dedicated her life to her family, to her friends and to music. Adopted early into Fairhope’s substantial Arnold/Butgereit/King clan, she was “Aunt Patsy” to many Fairhope generations.

She began her music career with lessons from Madam Tensi, progressed through folk songs at school and solos at church, to semi-professional opera in Mobile and California, to more than 35 years with Sweet Adeline chapters across the country.

She attended several different churches in Fairhope over her 75 years, but last attended Unity On The Eastern Shore.

Survivors include two sons, Brad (Lynne) Wilson of Tuscaloosa and Doug (Lisa) Wilson of Roswell, Ga.; four grandchildren, Cathryn, Miranda, Kyle and Jackson; and brother Harry D. Porter of Louisville, Ky.

A remembrance service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, 19698 S. Greeno Road, Fairhope. A reception will follow at the Wilson home (directions will be available at the service).

Those attending are asked to bring favorite memories to share with those gathered at the service.
