Wilma Durant Gay

Wilma Durant Gay, 74, born in the Bromley community of Bay Minette, died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Thomas Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Early in her career she worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines as well as many years as a legal assistant.

However, she placed most of the value during her life as being a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman P. and Wilma Durant, also of the Bromley community; and her husband, Cmdr. Daniel Judson Gay III.

She is survived by her brother, Norman E. (Linda) Durant; six children, Keica Gay Chason (John) and Daniel Durant (Carla) Gay, Shawnte Gay Jeffrey, Kaiya Gay, Branden Gay and Blakeli Gay; six grandchildren, Matthew A. Wallace, Gregory A. Wallace, Katelyn K. Chason, K. Christine Chason, Eric Alexander and Lleyton Gay; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Norris Funeral home in Bay Minette.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Cook Memorial Presbyterian Chapel, located at 36147 State Hwy. 225. Lunch will be served immediately following the service at the chapel.

On Monday, March 24, 2014, at 11 a.m., Wilma Durant Gay will rejoin her husband in Barrancas National Cemetery at the Pensacola Naval Air Station.
