William H. “Billy” Chandler, 77, born Aug. 15, 1937, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2015 at Thomas Hospital.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service, both on surface craft and submarines.

He was owner and operator of Chandler's Feed Store for 35 years, a member of the Alabama Cattleman's Association, a farmer for many years and a volunteer for the Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Chandler; his mother and father, Q.V. Styron Chandler and Willie Chandler; two brothers, Jack Chandler and Clyde Chandler; and two sisters, Helen Purvis and Audrey Mae Gray.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Clements Chandler of Pine Grove; two daughters, Karen (Brian) Rotz of Bay Minette and Kimberly (Ken) Anderson of Daphne; six grandsons, Matthew (Jackie) Rotz, Joseph (Candace) Chandler, Jason N. (Kayla) Roberts, Stephen Blake Rotz, Randall H. Rotz and the caboose, Brandon Gage Anderson; a great-granddaughter, Katie Kesterson; a great-grandson, Levi Ryan Chandler; two sisters, Clarice  Kite of Mobile and Bertha Philpot of Gulf Shores; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Clements Chandler; a special nephew, Junior (Robin) Welch of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at 11 a.m., at Norris Funeral Home, with Benjamin Reece officiating.

Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, from 9 a.m. until the service at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Matthew Rotz, Joseph R. Chandler, Jason N. Roberts, Stephen Blake Rotz, Randall H. Rotz and Brandon Gage Anderson.

Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034; the Skin Cancer Foundation, 149 Madison Ave., Suite 901, New York, NY 10016; or to the Alabama Cattleman's Association, 201 S. Bainbridge St., Montgomery, AL 36104.
