William Earl Smith, a native of Pine Hill, Ala. and resident of Bay Minette, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mr. Smith was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a truck driver for more than 40 years, and in his spare time loved to restore antique cars and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Madeline Catrette Smith; daughter, Monica (John) McCreary; son, William “Will” Earl Smith Jr.; brother, Bobbie G. Smith; sister, Alice Pugh; grandchildren, John Benjamin McCreary, Katie Alison McCreary and Hayley Emerson McCreary; sisters-in-law, Betty Sarhan and Johnnie Ann Catrette; brother-in-law, Robert Godwin; aunt and uncle, Madelyn and Red Sims; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held from St. Agatha Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in Mobile. Interment will be in Richerson Cemetery in Stockton.
Honorary pallbearer is George Overstreet. Active pallbearers are Paul Lowery, Vick Gorgeous, Sam Dinkins, Tony Cowin, Emery Mears and Arlis Cale.
