SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, the WOW! (Women on the Word) Sunday School class at Providence  United Methodist  Church will begin a 10-week study on “When Women Pray.”

The study, written by PUMC member and Christian author Drexel Gilbert, will equip Christian women to face today’s difficult times through greater communication with God, a spokesperson said. Women throughout the community are invited to attend the class, which begins at 9 a.m. at the new church located at 32200 Jimmy Faulkner Drive between Spanish Fort middle and high schools. Sunday worship begins at 10 a.m.

“The study will focus on why we pray, how we should pray; when we should pray; different types of prayer; what God expects from our prayers; what we should expect when we pray; intercessory prayer; corporate prayer; individual prayer; and when prayers seem to go unanswered,” Gilbert said.

Prior to the fall study, the WOW class will have a two-week study on the Christian’s model for prayer, The Lord’s Prayer. Those classes will be held Aug. 23 and 30.

Gilbert is a former reporter and anchor for television stations in the Mobile-Pensacola market. She has embarked on a new venture as an author, motivational speaker and consultant.

She has developed a series of faith-based speeches and workshops. Her faith-based video, “Anchored,” has been developed into a Bible study for adults who are seeking a stronger walk of faith during today’s difficult times.
