SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Mrs. Evans’ enrichment classes have completed a reader’s theater on Mohammed Ali. Students will begin creating their own culture, working together to give it a name, choose a historical time period and determine its habitat.
Sixth-grade humanities students will create a life-size character in connection with the novel they are currently reading. The students will analyze the character’s words and actions to determine what the voice, deeds, thoughts and feelings, and looks are from clues in the book. Students will then “dress” the character and draw the characters features.
The students have had some great discussions about changes in our world through the use of poems and short stories. They have already read four short stories, six poems and two non-fiction articles.
Congratulations to Michael Farnell for his winning drawing of “Bad Characters,” a short story we read and discussed in class.
