I really miss the good old days when this country was respected, feared, and thought of as a God-fearing moral bastion of freedom. A place that millions of foreign aliens want to come to be a part of the American dream. We welcome legal immigrants; after all, most of us are descendents of legal immigrants.

The illegal immigrants and the lack of enforcement by this administration is a major problem in our country. The requirements to provide services and support to the millions of illegal aliens is a tremendous drain financially on most southwestern states and the country’s resources. The lack of interest by the president and attorney general in the protection of the citizens of this country has led to no enforcement on the borders, posting signs on public property warning of dangers along the borders in Texas and Arizona.

A farmer was killed on his ranch, his own property in the United States of America, a young college student was going to visit his relatives in Mexico and was shot and killed on a bus somewhere in central Mexico, and a young husband was shot on a lake between the USA and Mexico possibly by the Mexican drug cartels. These cartels are operating on our side of the border with no fear of our laws and no regard for our citizens.

What has President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Homeland Security Head Janet Napolitano done to bring justice or safety to our citizens?

Nothing!!

They are all talk and no action. They have filed a lawsuit against Arizona on the belief that there could be racial profiling. Because we are becoming a leftist, socialist, pacifist nation we have lost all respect by other nations. Now Mexico and seven other countries are trying to join in the Justice Department’s law suit against the illegal immigration bill passed by Arizona. It is my opinion that our president should tell those countries to take a hike, stop any foreign aid to them and use the money to pay down our debt, and ease the needs of our citizens in poverty.

But this president goes around apologizing and bowing down to foreign leaders because we are the most powerful and greatest nation in the world.

This lack of enforcement of immigration laws is a blatant disregard for the safety of the citizens that he swore to protect, for the chance of receiving the Hispanic vote.

The disregard of our borders, laws, citizens and visitors to Mexico, by the illegal immigrants and drug cartels brings me to a story I heard while in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1950s. There were a lot of Marines going to Mexico from Camp Pendleton, Calif., and were being arrested and jailed for high fines to line the pockets of the Mexican authorities. The story goes that a great Marine general called the Mexican government and threatened to bring a battalion of Marines down there to get his Marines and when they left there would not be anything left of that part of Mexico. Whether this story is true or not, I long for that type of leadership in this country now. By the way, all the military personnel were released, according to the story.

We need that type of leader now to restore us to a country that is respected and feared as the most powerful country in the world. We need to walk tall, speak softly and carry a big stick.

Let’s stand up and be counted. If we don’t stop the movement toward socialism we will soon be the USSA (United Socialist States of America) instead of the USA (United States of America).

Remember the motto: In God we trust.
