W.C. Smith, 79, a native of Loxley and resident of Rosinton, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014.

Mr. Smith was a Vietnam veteran, retiring from the United States Air Force after serving more than 21 years.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked offshore for Livingston Oil as a tool pusher.

Mr. Smith was highly involved with the VFW, and was the former post commander for VFW Post 5226 in Robertsdale, former District Eight commander and had been currently serving as the quartermaster for the past several years for VFW Post 5226.

He loved to ride his Harley motorcycle and to sing karaoke at the VFW.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Smith and Pat Granger; two brothers, Theodore Smith and John Riley Smith; and a sister, Polly Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Boykin Smith of Rosinton; four daughters, Patricia (Stevan) Dolinsek of Coralville, Iowa, Angela (Brian) Huffman of Galesburg, Ill., Sandra (Daniel) Temple of East Galesburg, Ill. and Bonita Smith of Galesburg, Ill.; three sons, Lee Granger, Joe Granger and Glen Granger; four sisters, Maudie Wisniewski of Mississippi, Katherine Greene of Mississippi, Hazel Ladet of North Carolina and Diane Rika of Mississippi; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Mack Funeral Home chapel in Robertsdale.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., at Mack Funeral Home.

Burial will be in New Cooper Cemetery in Robertsdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to VFW Post 5226, 18457 U.S. Hwy. 90, Robertsdale, AL 36567.
