Waters open again in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - On Friday afternoon both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach began flying single red flags which indicates a warning that waters have dangerious potential for swimmers, but are again open.

On Thursday the cities posted double red flags closing the waters because of rip currents, but conditions changed on Friday afternoon.

While the posting of single red flags effectively opens the waters to swimmers, public safety officials urge those entering the Gulf to exercise extreme caution and asks the public to observe and obey the beach warning flag system.
