Walter Clopton Jones, 92, died Sept. 8, 2013 in Spanish Fort.

Originally of New Market and raised in North Birmingham, Mr. Jones served on a U.S. Navy destroyer during WWII, during which time he was engaged in 13 major battles in the Pacific.

After the war, he and his wife and daughter moved to Rosinton, where he farmed and worked as a bookkeeper until the birth of their son, when he went into business for himself as an accountant, and later as a Realtor and real estate investor.

He lived in Rosinton and Robertsdale for 40 years, in Foley for 25 years, and was a member of the Masons and a founding member of the Robertsdale Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 74 years, Alice “Sue” Jones of Spanish Fort; son, Walter Clopton “Topper” (Marianne) Jones II of Rosinton; daughter, Barbara (Gene) Mullins of North Little Rock, Ark.; grandsons, Jeff (Michelle) Mullins of Fayetteville, Ark. and Morrie (Christy) Mullins of Loveland, Ohio; granddaughter, Carol (Don) Mullins Hayes of Seattle, Wash.; and great grandchildren, Devon and Madeline Mullins of Fayetteville, Ark.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, beginning with a visitation at 9 a.m., funeral service at 10 and interment following the service in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
