Lowell Lamar Walker died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at his home in Greenville, S.C.

He was born July 29, 1934 in Graceville, Fla., the son of William Kirby Walker and Ida Williams Walker.

He graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1952, and the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1958. He worked for International Paper Co., J.E. Sirrine, and Fluor.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Glover Walker; three daughters, Sharon (Steve) Hansen of Wilmington, Del., Leigh (Bruce) Thompson of Marietta, Ga.; and Bonnie (Jimmy) Flythe of Winston-Salem, N.C.; six grandchildren, James Thomas Flythe III, Lowell Walker Flythe, Henry Woodrow Flythe, Kathryn Danielle Hansen, Darby Janine Thompson, and Paige Aileen Thompson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Leonard Pugh and his assistant, Tracey, for their kindness and help during his long battle with heart disease and requests memorial donations be made to Lutheran Hospice, Upstate Office, 218A Trade St., Greer SC 29652.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Greenville.
