I would be remiss not to thank Smart Coast for organizing and participating in the first Friday Walk to School this year!

Wendy, Charlene and others were wonderful to lead the way for the children, parents (in my case great-grandma) or other family members to walk the youngsters to school and enjoy their interaction with each other, excitement in what they saw and shared with each other — great fun — rain or shine!

Mrs. Clinton was right that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Unfortunately in the quest for excellence when the children were separated by age and sent to different schools, it removed those older siblings and friends who would walk along daily and “watch out” for the younger ones — seeing the same ones all year and forming great bonds plus walking exercise and fresh air!

My family is grateful for that time with Sebastian (1st grade) and hope it continues year to year!
