Big hair, neon colors and retro beats will take over downtown Foley on April 25 as the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation hosts Walk This Way: Mixtapes and Rollerskates, an 80s-themed walking parade and block party aimed at raising money for local schools.

The event, set for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 200 N. Alston St., is open to adults ages 18 and older and blends a festive parade atmosphere with a community-wide street celebration.

Participants will travel about 0.80 miles through downtown in full 80s attire, from roller skates and skateboards to windbreakers and leg warmers. Spectators are encouraged to line the route and cheer on walkers, who are invited to toss candy and themed items to the crowd along the way.

Registration includes an official event T-shirt, access to the downtown block party and an All Access Pass Punch Card. The pass allows participants to visit participating restaurants and bars throughout the evening, collecting punches with each stop. Completed punch cards will be entered into a prize drawing at the end of the night.

The evening will culminate in a downtown block party featuring Disco Kiss, an 80s cover band, with music and dancing planned as the parade route transitions into a full-scale celebration.

Organizers say the event is designed not only as a nostalgic experience but also as a way to bring the community together in support of education. Proceeds benefit the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, which supports 14 schools across the region through classroom grants, school programs and innovative projects.
