Dr. Emmanuel “Chuma” Wadibia, Pharm D, MBA, of Daphne, 48, died Saturday, May 23, 2007 in Fairhope.

He was born March 21, 1959, to Fredrick and Gladys Wadibia in Aba, Nigeria.

He came to America to study in 1979 and graduated from Creighton University Pharmacy School in 1983, and the Business School in 1986 with an MBA. He was employed with US West Communications as a manager of product service cost and revenue and of network economic analysis. He obtained a doctorate degree in pharmacy from Creighton in 1993.

He was a fellow in cardiovascular research and pharmoeconmics at the cardiac center in St. Joseph Hospital Omaha, Neb., a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and National Scholastic Honarary Society, and finished the business school with outstanding scholastic achievement. He joined the staff at Auburn University in 1996 as an assistant clinical professor in cardiology and research. He was a clinical pharmacology consultant in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine in the Dept. of Internal Medicine, University of South Alabama, listed in the Marquis Who's Who in medicine and health care, and was on the Leadership and Editorial Board for the Southern Medical Association. He was a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and associate member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

He was a member of Life Church. He will be remembered for the love he had for the Lord and his family.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Carol Jean Zehr Wadibia; children, Ashley, 22, Jason, 21, and Christopher, 12; his mother, Lady Gladys Wadibia of Nigeria; sisters Dorothy Mbanefo, Ambassador N. Wadibia-Anyanwu, Uzoamako Wadibia, Ifeoma Onyeabo, all in Nigeria, and Nnena Ogbuehi of London, England; brothers, Nkechinturu Wadibia of Nigeria and Ebube (Chinye) Wadibia of Los Angeles; nephew, Azubuike Mbanefo, Los Angeles; a host of other relatives, in-laws and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15 at Life Church, Mobile. Burial will be held at Pierce Chapel Cemetery,Central City, Neb.
