Daniel Jackson Vinson Jr., 60, a native of Mobile and a resident of the Crossroads community of Bay Minette, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Tensaw.

He was a dispatcher with the county highway department and was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Kirk Jackson Vinson and Dennis Jay Vinson and his parents, Daniel Jackson Vinson and Clara Mae Vinson.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Powell Vinson of Crossroads; four sons, Chad Vinson and D.J. (Syndle) Vinson, both of Crossroads, David (Sue) Smith of Daphne and Michael (Shawn) Brown of Rabun; his daughter, Dee Dee Myers of Crossroads; four grandchildren, Jacob Myers, Aricle Vinson, Dorothy Myers and Kyra Vinson; two brothers, Keith Vinson of Pensacola, Fla., and Kenny Vinson of Lawton, Okla.; and five sisters, Sandy Lipp of Phoenix, Judy Lipp of Yuma, Ariz., Charlotte Hulberg of Milton, Fla., Kathy Burchinal of Tampa, Fla., and Connie Wilburn of Milton, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Crossroads Church of God with the Soldiers of the Cross and Danny Milam officiating. The Patriot Guard will be present for the service.

Soldiers of the Cross will serve as pallbearers.
