MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — Saturday marked the clumination of the Magnolia Springs Public Library’s summer-reading program.

Begun in June, the program deemed the “Great Green Turkey Creek Monster” Challenge in honor of the book by James Flora, challenged Magnolia Springs residents aged 5-10 to read all summer, which Magnolia Springs Librarian Alida Given recounts. According to Magnolia Springs Librarian Alida Given, each time any of the 11 participants completed a book, they added length to the “Great Green Monster” and rang a gong. Saturday’s program celebrated their literary accomplishments with a program and awards that included medals and certificates.
