The Rev. Julius Lee "J.L." Vernor, 71, a native of Dumas, Ark., and resident of Fairhope, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at a local health care facility.

He was a retired Baptist minister and carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Black Vernor of Fairhope; three sons, David (Pam) Vernor of Stapleton, Tim (Amy) Vernor of Daphne and Greg (Andrea) Vernor of Loxley; daughter, Julia Vernor of Bay Minette; step-son, Garth White of Fairhope; step-daughter, Melissa (Richie) Price of Daphne; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at First Baptist Church of Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the church with Dr. Jerry Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Fork Cemetery, Bay Minette.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the church of your choice.
