The husband of one of Alabama's federal senators is joining the leadership team at the Daphne-based development company 68 Ventures, the company announced Monday.

According to a statement shared with GCM on June 29, Wesley Britt will serve as executive vice president and member of the company's executive leadership team. 68 Ventures describes itself as one of the largest development companies in Baldwin County and the Southeast. Notable projects include Stonebridge, a master planned community in Spanish Fort, and the Fortuna Hotel, a $30 million boutique hotel in development in Daphne.

According to the release, Britt will work alongside Founder and Chairman Nathan Cox, President Adam Campbell, CEO Drew Dolan and the broader leadership team to "advance the continued growth of 68 Ventures and expand its impact across the Southeast."

“Throughout every stage of his career, I have watched him earn the trust and respect of the people around him," Cox said as part of a statement. "He is a person of exceptional integrity, humility and character who embodies the values of our organization. It has also been a privilege for 68 Ventures to work alongside the Fine Geddie team over the last several years. I know the experience Wesley gained and the relationships he built there will serve him well as he helps us strengthen partnerships, create opportunities, and accelerate our growth throughout the Southeast."

Britt is the husband of U.S. Sen. Katie Britt. He chaired her campaign in 2022. They live in Montgomery. He played football at the University of Alabama as an offensive tackle, later playing in the NFL, including the New England Patriots from 2005 to 2008.

Britt most recently served as a partner at the governmental affairs firm Fine Geddie, where he advised businesses, organizations and community leaders throughout the state. Prior to joining Fine Geddie, Britt served as an economic development representative at Alabama Power, working in roles focused on economic development, community affairs, innovation, workforce development and strategic initiatives.

In the press release, the company said Britt's responsibilities will include business development, strategic partnerships, acquisition sourcing, economic development initiatives and other growth opportunities across the company’s real estate, operating company and investment platforms.

“68 Ventures has built one of the most dynamic and respected organizations in the Southeast,” Britt said. “What Nathan, Adam, Drew and the entire team have created is truly remarkable. The company’s entrepreneurial culture, long-term vision and commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves align closely with my own values. I am deeply grateful for my time at Fine Geddie and for the friendships, experiences and opportunities I have had there. It would have taken an extraordinary opportunity for me to make this transition, and I believe strongly in Nathan’s vision, the people of 68 Ventures and everything the company is positioned to accomplish in the years ahead. I am excited to contribute to its next chapter and to work alongside people who challenge me to grow and make a meaningful difference.”
