BAY MINETTE — The Baldwin County Board of Education unanimously renaming the new elementary school currently under construction in Daphne to the Jubilee Elementary School.

When the item was approved, the boardroom filled with applause from those in attendance.

"Several names were considered, but with Daphne being the Jubilee City, we felt the name was appropriate and felt the community would embrace it," Baldwin County Public Schools Communications Coordinator Chasity Riddick said.

According to Riddick, the school is set to hold 1,200 students and has a projected total cost of $35,000,000. The building is set to open in August 2026.
