Donald Trump has given his "complete and total endorsement" to U.S. Rep. Barry Moore for Alabama's open federal Senate seat, the president announced on social media.
Moore, a Republican from Enterprise, is currently serving his third term in Congress representing Alabama's 1st Congressional District, which covers Baldwin, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Escambia, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties along with a portion of Mobile County. Moore has established himself as a Trump ally since endorsing him during his first presidential campaign in 2015, when Moore was serving in the Alabama House of Representatives.
Trump announced his endorsement of Moore in a post shared on Truth Social on Saturday, Jan. 17, describing Moore as "an America First Patriot who has been with me from the very beginning."
“A very successful Businessman, Civic Leader, and Highly Respected State Legislator prior to becoming a distinguished Congressman, Barry has dedicated his life to serving his Community,” Trump wrote. “As your next Senator, Barry will continue to fight tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strengthen our Brave Military/Veterans, Safeguard our Elections, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” he continued.
“Barry Moore is a good friend, fighter, and WINNER, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next United States Senator from Alabama — BARRY WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
Moore responded to Trump's endorsement on X, formerly Twitter, saying he is “truly honored and thankful to receive the endorsement of President Donald Trump.”
"[Trump] has always put America first, and I'm proud to have stood with him from the very beginning," Moore wrote. “With his support, I’m ready to get to work on day one. I’ll continue fighting for Alabama values, secure borders, a strong economy, and putting the President’s America First agenda into action."
Moore announced his Senate campaign in August 2025, with current U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville declining to seek reelection and instead deciding to run for governor. Moore joins a crowded Republican slate of candidates, including Attorney General Steve Marshall, former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, former U.S. Navy Reserve and former Trump official Morgan Murphy and cattle farmer and businessman Rodney Walker.
Party primaries will take place on May 19. The general election is Nov. 3.
