FOLEY, Alabama – In September 2011, United Way of Baldwin County set a goal of raising $925,000 in its annual campaign, a goal $20,000 higher than the previous year. As of March 1, UWBC is projecting to exceed goal, raising $953,303 or 103 percent of its goal. “We set this year’s goal higher than in 2010 because our agencies needed it,” said UWBC Executive Director Rebecca Byrne. “It was a daunting challenge, but through the combined efforts of our board members, local foundations, businesses and individuals who recognized the value of these services in our community, we not only met but exceeded that goal.” The annual campaign helps fund United Way’s 38 nonprofit partner agencies who provide health and human services to area residents. United Way of Baldwin County also administers the United Medical Partnership for Children, a local healthcare initiative covering medical, dental and vision care for Baldwin County public school children who lack health insurance or are underinsured. United Way of Baldwin County is committed to “Goals for the Common Good” – lowering the county’s high school dropout rate, promoting financial independence for families and improving the health of individuals in our community. All of this is done locally and in collaboration with diverse partners including schools, corporations, health agencies, literacy programs, government services, the faith community and others.
