The United States Sports Academy will host a study tour of American sports facilities for a group of 22 delegates from the Sports Authority of Thailand.
The 11-city tour, which will extend from Sept. 21 to Oct. 4, will be led by academy staff members and Sports Authority of Thailand Director Somkid Pinthong.
Beginning in Los Angeles, the delegates will visit the Home Depot Training Center, an official U.S. Olympic training center. In addition, they will tour the athletic facilities at Azusa Pacific University. Before departing for the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, the tour will visit the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
The delegates will also visit the facilities at the U.S. Air Force Academy. On Sept. 27, the study tour will travel to the academy in Daphne to tour the campus and then take in a high school football game in Mobile.
They will arrive in New Orleans on Sept. 29 to attend the Tulane University and Louisiana State University football game at the Superdome. They will then travel to Atlanta to tour the athletic facilities at Georgia Tech.
On Oct. 2 the group will arrive in Washington, D.C. and tour the Verizon Center before traveling to New York City.
The academy has a long-standing relationship with the SAT. It sends instructors to Thailand to teach courses in the Certification in Sports Management program and the Certification in Sports Coaching program. The two groups recently added a third certification program in sports medicine, which will begin in 2008.
