DAPHNE — Police are searching for two black men who allegedly robbed the manager of the Sonic restaurant early Monday morning.
Police said the manager had left the store on U.S. Highway 98 to use the outside restroom when he was approached by the men.
“When he reached the restroom two black males approached him, forced him into the bathroom and threw him on the floor,” Lt. Jud Beedy said in a news release. “Once the manager was on the ground, one suspect sat on the manager and the other one pointed a gun at the head of the manager.”
The manager was then tied up with duct tape and robbed of his wallet, keys and a cell phone before being left on the floor of the restroom, police said.
Sgt. Brian Gulsby said he believes the suspects were in a convenience store next to the restaurant prior to the robbery.
“Two men fitting the description of the suspects were seen in the store about 30 minutes before the robbery,” Gulsby said, adding that a surveillance photo of one of the men in the store may help officers identify the suspects.
“It is our best lead right now,” Gulsby said.
The robbery is the second in two weeks in Daphne, police said.
Police are still seeking two suspects who reportedly robbed the Circle K on North Main Street at Van Buren Street June 9.
The two incidents do not appear to be related, Gulsby said.
“The descriptions of the suspects don’t match, and the way the crime was committed was different,” he said.
Police encourage anyone with information related to either crime to call the Daphne Police Department at 621-9100.
