FAIRHOPE – Two movies will be filming in Baldwin County in the next month and crews are preparing to shoot in areas around the county.
The movie "Bruiser," will be shot in Baldwin and Mobile in upcoming weeks. The Baldwin County Commission voted Tuesday, Feb. 15 to allow scenes from the film to be shot at the Byrnes Lake boat landing off Alabama 225.
Tommy Bell of the Mobile Film Office said his office is also working on other projects that will include scenes shot in Baldwin County.
"Over the years, the Mobile Film Office has assisted productions filming in Mobile and Baldwin County and they've brought a great economic impact to both our communities, so I just wanted to once again thank you for the support that the commission has provided over the years," he told commissioners.
Ben Minor, location manager for the movie "Bruiser," said the project will be an economic boost for the area as well as show Baldwin County to movie viewers.

"Our story is centered around Fairhope, but also Barnwell in general and Baldwin County and we're really loving just like our interactions with a lot of people from the community, paying churches, schools, residents of the county to rent their property to film on and we're looking forward to the success here," Minor said.
"It is an economic driver, not just for the production companies that come in here, but for the people that we interact with. It's the businesses, the restaurants, the accommodations for these crews," he added.
Shooting began Feb. 15 and will continue into March, according to reports.
Another film production company plans to shoot scenes for the movie "Jesus Revolution," in Fairhope starting in March. Film company representative Bass Hampton said the movie will tell the story of the founder of the Calvary Church.
"This is a great faith-based story about a spiritual awakening in the '60s in Southern California, where a bunch of hippies decided to clean up their act and start going to church," he said. "It's a true story about Greg Laurie."
Plans call for scenes showing Laurie's early life living with his mother in a trailer on a California beach to be shot at the city's North Beach Park.
Other scenes depicting his schooling will be shot at the Fairhope K-1 Center in March.
"We want to use one of the front two rooms, just as a classroom and that's not even a full day of filming and then we want to shoot the exterior to imply that it is this military school," Hampton said. "We might want to put a sign up or something that has the fictitious name of the school and then one of the outbuildings. We may want to imply that's the principal's office."
The Fairhope City Council voted Monday, Feb. 14, to allow crews to use the city-owned K-1 Center and park.
Bell said film office officials are also working with Baldwin cities to plan other movies in the future.
"Currently, we are working with the cities of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fairhope, Daphne and others to put guidelines in place for film companies, but also have a liaison to work with the productions," he said.
