Tuberville, Rick Scott introduce bill to prevent doxxing of federal law enforcement officers

Posted

U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville, R-AL, and Rick Scott, R-FL, introduced legislation recently aimed at blocking the release of federal law enforcement officers’ personal location data when used to obstruct, interfere with or retaliate against their duties.

The measure, known as the Blocking Leaks Undermining Law Enforcement (BLUE) Act of 2026, comes as violent rioters, cartels and domestic terrorists have increased doxxing attempts against federal law enforcement, particularly Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection personnel, since President Trump returned to office last year, a news release from Tuberville’s office said.

“It’s increasingly clear that the Radical Left doesn’t believe in law and order and will do anything to stop the law from being enforced,” Tuberville said in the release. “We’ve seen repeated attacks on our brave law enforcement officers, including the ICE agents who are carrying out President Trump’s agenda to remove illegal criminals. Revealing officers’ personal locations — whether they’re on duty or not — is extremely dangerous to their safety. If you do anything to put a law enforcement officer in harm’s way, your butt needs to be thrown in jail. As we recognize National Police Week this week, I’m proud to join the BLUE Act with Sen. Rick Scott to further protect those who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.”

Tuberville has positioned himself as a strong supporter of law enforcement at the local, state and federal levels since entering the Senate, securing nearly $11 million dollars to bolster Alabama law enforcement through the appropriations process, the release said.

The BLUE Act would establish a new criminal prohibition making it illegal to share certain protected information about a federal law enforcement officer when done with intent to obstruct, interfere with or retaliate against official duties or proceedings. It would also expand the definition of protected information to include not only personal details but also an officer’s current or expected physical locations, whether on or off duty.

Joining Scott and Tuberville in introducing the legislation are Sens. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, Mike Lee, R-UT, James Lankford, R-OK, Ted Budd, R-NC and Mike Rounds, R-SD.

According to the release, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association endorsed the legislation.
