FOLEY, Ala. — The school week ended badly for a 15-year-old Foley High student, who was hit by a vehicle while walking to her mother’s car Friday afternoon.

Foley Police report that at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, they responded to a call about the incident at Pine Street in front of YMCA.

According to Foley Police Lt. David White, the student was walking to meet her mother, who was parked in in front of the YMCA. While doing so, she was struck by a full-size truck.

“I don’t believe it was another student driving,” he said.

The girl was taken by ambulance to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. According to hospital spokesperson Kimberly Neal, she suffered extensive abrasions, head injury, skull fracture and a severe concussion.

“She was transferred to USA Trauma Center,” Neal said.

While Foley High was manned by a school-resource officer, White said there was not a crossing guard in the area. The incident also remains under investigation.

“But we don’t anticipate any charges at this time,” White said.
