Tropical Depression Four could be storm today

A new tropical wave off the coast of Africa is expected to become a tropical storm sometime today.

At 4 a.m. the center of Tropical Depression Four was located near latitude 13.9 north, longitude 28.1 west. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 20 mph.  This general motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days.

 Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts.  Some slight strengthening is expected during the next 48 hours and the depression is forecast to become a tropical  storm later today or tonight. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb or 29.77 inches.

The system currently threatens no land mass.
