FOLEY, Ala.—Daphne dropped the first game to Saraland in the Bronze bracket finals, but rallied to win the division title 22-25, 25-13, 15-12 in the 2013 Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival tournament. The Bronze tournament was held at Foley High Saturday.
“I'm really proud of how the girls played all weekend,” said DHS assistant coach Kevin Frazier. “This was our most consistent week of volleyball. Even the games we didn't win we didn't loose my much. The girls played very consistent and tough. In the finals against Saraland they were down one set and came back and won the bronze championship. Saraland did a great job offensively and served us very tough. We did a great job of passing and played great defense.”
The Trojans were led by Sandra Cross who had 11 aces and 31 digs; Jordan Filotei with seven kills, six assists and 55 digs; Sarah Chapman added nine aces and 40 digs; Cierra Harris had 21 kills, four digs and 11 blocks and Suzanne Evans finished with 47 kills, 50 assists, 24 digs, 9 blocks and 12 aces.
