DAPHNE, Ala. — The Trojans won the Battle at the Beach Tournament in Port Orange, Fla., over the weekend. Daphne went 4-0 to improve to 19-3 overall winning 18 of its last 19 games.
The Trojans defeated Flagler Palm Coast 1-0 in the title game.
In the circle, Makenna Pierce (10-1) went 2-0 with a no-hitter. The junior righthander struck out 24 in 12 innings, allowed two hits and three walks. Southern Miss signee Reagan Watkins (7-2) also went 2-0. The lefty pitched 14 innings scattering eight hits, four walks and struck out 23.
At the plate, tournament totals included Kennedy Cronan going 5-for-11 with a double with five RBIs and five runs scored. MC Sweatt went 5-for-11 with a double, a triple and five RBIs. Watkins went 4-for-10 with a double and an RBI, and Pierce went 5-for-13 with a homer and five RBIs.
