DAPHNE, Ala. – The Trojans improved to 3-1 in the Class 7A, Region 1 race (5-1 overall) with a Monday-night, Hurricane Sally make-up win over league rival Foley. The visiting Lions fell to 0-4, 0-5.
Daphne’s offense scored 30 points in the first half and led 37-0 before FHS answered. DHS quarterback Trent Battle led with a 43-yard touchdown run on the Trojans’ first drive.
He also connected for a TD-pass that was deflected by a Foley player, but was caught by Kaden Blackwell for a 19-yard DHS score. The Trojans defense also picked up a safety in the first quarter to lead 16-0.
In the second quarter, Battle threw to Travis Crum for a 70-yard TD and a 23-0 lead. Crum scored again on a pass from junior quarterback Kaden Pierce for 64 yards. DHS scored in the second half on a third-and-goal run by Nicholas Bennett.
Foley scored in the third quarter on a third-and-goal run by Marquise Mosely. Forrest Taylor kicked a 37-yard field goal for the Lions to cap the scoring.
The Class 7A, Region 1 game was postponed by Hurricane Sally on Sept. 18. Daphne travels to face the Class 7A, Region 1 Alma Bryant Hurricanes tonight. Foley is off this weekend.
