DAPHNE, Ala.— Fairhope artist Ricky Trione in a newly released Web seminar proves that the blind can lead the blind.
Trione, a Bay Rivers Art Guild member, uses the Daphne facility as the backdrop for his video how-to guide on painting blindly; the video can be seen online at eCountryLifestyle.com, which features—among other things—gardening, cooking tips and video clips.
In Trione’s video the blind artist demonstrates how he paints using his other senses.
For instance, a paper-plate pallet organizes colors in deliberate positions so that Trione can identify—and mix—paints, working clockwise.
For orientation, Trione feels the canvas as he draws the shape of a shrimp.
“A lot of people want to know how a blind person draws and creates without seeing—and particularly, young people really want to know how does a blind person use colors the way I do,” Trione—who often demonstrates painting techniques at schools and other venues— said in the clip.
