On Sunday evening, May 20, 7 p.m., Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope, will hold a musical Vesper Service.
The service will include music by Bach and Mozart, which will be performed by the Chancel Choir, soloists and a small orchestra. A Zuckermann Flemish harpsichord will be dedicated at that service, as well.
The Vesper service, or Evening Prayer, is a simple worship service of prayer, scripture and meditation. There will be an especially beautiful musical setting of that service, Holden Evening Prayer, composed by Marty Haugen.
J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 will be performed; the principal soloists are Andra Bohnet, flute; Tom Morley, violin; and Joe Rambo, harpsichord. Also, Bach’s Cantata No. 161, “Come, Thou Blessed Hour of Parting,” will be featured as a musical meditation upon the Scripture lessons.
The Psalm for the night will be Psalm 117, by W.A. Mozart, “Laudate Dominum.”
The public is invited to join the Musical Vespers and to invite friends to also come for this evening of beautiful sacred music.
Trinity Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of Mobile Street and Fig Avenue. For more information, call 928-2524.
