DAPHNE, Ala. — With a career-ending knee injury, Hunter Robinson thought his dreams of sports fame ended along with his baseball career.
But after a few years, he found a new passion and is working to make a name for himself in triathlons — even hoping to become a professional.
To aid in his quest, the 26-year-old Daphne resident is competing for a TRX Suspension Training one-time sponsorship by promoting a 30-second YouTube video he made explaining his goal for the year and how the sponsorship will help. The five videos with the most views — of all those competiting — will win.
Robinson said the sponsorship’s benefits are twofold in helping him reach his competitive goals. It will help him meet race fees and travel expenses for the year and will help him do well in his main race of the year.
“As part of the sponsorship, they provide a custom-made strength program that will help me in injury prevention and will help me gain overall strength in order to meet my time goal for Ironman Texas in May,” Robinson said.
Meeting this goal would be a major milestone in Robinson’s triathlon career.
