Treasures krewe getting ready for annual Halloween party

Posted

Orange Beach, AL - Treasures of the Isle Mardi Krewe is continuing the Halloween Tradition started years ago by Bill and Jean Burnett, AKA, Mr. and Mrs. Halloween.

The Burnetts, members of Treasures of the Isle, began their Halloween party tradition from their home on Ono Island as an opportunity to meet neighbors and encourage new friendships. The party became so popular that they had to move to a larger venue, so more locals and visitors to our community could be included in the festivities.

As the TOIs have done previously, by asking an entrance fee, our Krewe is able to give back a portion of the proceeds to help support Youth-Reach, a charity within our community.

This year we will not only honor Jean Burnett’s memory, but celebrate her life and love of tradition and fellowship, especially her enjoyment of Halloween. We are expecting many locals and visitors to our Island to participate in this spectacular Monster Bash.

Don’t be shy, join in the celebration and play “dress-up” as your favorite character or ghoul and be amazed at how much fun “big kids” can have while dancing around fantasy and ghoulishly fabulous decorations generously donated by the Burnetts.

Jane Woolwine, who has been planning parties on Pleasure Island for over 40 years, was quoted last year as saying,“I have never seen so many decorations, even for commercial parties”. Our Krewe and all the Burtnetts’ friends will be forever grateful to them for starting a tradition that now includes locals and visitors and helps our charity, Youth-Reach.

This year’s Halloween Costume Party will be October 26, 2013 from 7:00pm-11:00pm at the Orange Beach Community Center. Prizes will be awarded for costumes, including the title, “Mr. and Mrs. Halloween.”

Have The Fabulous Fontella tell your fortune and enjoy dancing to music by the band, Knee Deep! Food and set-ups provided (byob). To make sure you’re in the pictures this year, grab your tickets now!
