FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Class 5A's defending champion Spanish Fort Toros will start the year ranked No. 2 behind the team they beat in last season's championship game.

The Toros, who finished 14-1 and beat McAdory in the 5A finals in December, will open the season one spot behind the Yellow Jackets, who also finished 14-1. The Yellow Jackets received 17 first place votes to the Toros' 12 in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll of the season on Wednesday.

No other Baldwin County teams were ranked in the poll, but Daphne, Foley and Bayside Academy received votes in their respective classes.
