GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spanish Fort Toros defeated host Gulf Shores 68-54 in a consolation game of the Coca-Cola Christmas Tournament on Thursday.

Spanish Fort led most of the way, with a lead at the end of the first period and a 32-30 advantage at the half. The Toros started the second half with a 15-3 run that shifted the momentum in Spanish Fort’s favor.

“We started making some shots and playing better defense,” Spanish Fort coach Ernest Hill said. “We got some easy baskets from turnovers. We played a decent ballgame. We got some takeaways that kind of put it over the hump.”

Ben Redman led the Toros with 25 points and Dalton Owens had 15 in the win. Ryan Godwin had 24 points in the loss for Gulf Shores, and Brandon Silvers added 15.

“It could be Ben one night and it could Dalton one night,” Hill said. “I am just trying to figure out how to get both of them on on the same night. Somebody could be in trouble.”

The Toros will play in the Hilton Sandestin tournament this week.
